The ARCH Artifex Story

ARCH was founded in 2014 by John Armstrong. John's vision was to provide an alternative consultancy model focused first and foremost on delivering measurable outcomes for our clients.

From our initial Engineering and Project Management services for projects such as Sydney Light Rail and Sydney Metro, ARCH quickly expanded to provide Systems Engineering & Safety Assurance and is now the leading independent provider of SESA in New South Wales. 

In 2018, John and the leadership welcomed Artifex. Artifex was originally founded in 2005 and has an impressive track record in managing infrastructure projects.

As ARCH Artifex, our Project Services Group has expanded to provide Communications & Stakeholder Management, Project Planning & Controls, Constructability, Engineering and Project Management.

In 2021, ARCH Artifex took the step to found new offices in Victoria and Queensland. Early projects include the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) for Melbourne Metro and assisting on the Beerburrum to Nambour Rail Upgrade (B2N).

Most recently ARCH brought in Gareth O’Brien to expand our services into Environment & Sustainability. This service line has met with immediate success and is growing quickly. At the end of 2023, Environment & Sustainability became a standalone division in ARCH and is looking forward to rapid expansion in both Victoria and NSW.

Our aspiration is to help our clients to deliver successful projects by providing the services they need in a way that adds real value.

Northern Beaches B-Line

The B-Line Program was an integrated package of service and infrastructure improvements, designed to provide more reliable journeys between Mona Vale and the Sydney CBD. Improvements to the road corridor and implementation of bus priority measures improved reliability of bus services affected by congestion at several bottlenecks.

Sydney Light Rail

Sydney's CBD and South East Light Rail plays a key role in enabling the city's transport future by transporting thousands of customers between the CBD and Randwick or Kingsford in the South Eastern suburbs. The 12km route features 19 stops, extending from Circular Quay along George Street to Central Station, through Surry Hills to Moore Park, Kingsford and Randwick.

West Connex New M5

Australia's largest road infrastructure project. WestConnex is a critical part of a broader plan to get Sydney (and Australia) moving again. With a record investment from the NSW Government in public transport infrastructure, WestConnex has eased significant traffic congestion, created tens of thousands of jobs and connected communities across wider Sydney.
